Mentoring works best when you make space to pause and look inward. Reflection keeps you accountable, grounded, and invested in your own growth. Sometimes you don’t realise how far you’ve come until you stop and look back.
These templates are here to help you do exactly that. They’re optional but highly recommended — especially for mentees. You can use them to prepare for conversations, track your progress, or just process what’s shifting for you during the six-month journey.
We’ll also discuss some of these prompts during your onboarding session to help you get into the rhythm of reflection early on.
These prompts are designed to help both mentors and mentees capture what stood out after each meeting. This reflection can be written privately or shared with the other person if helpful.
For Mentees
-
What stood out most from today’s conversation?
-
How did I feel before the session, and how do I feel now?
-
What’s one insight, phrase, or piece of advice that will stay with me?
-
What action or behaviour will I try to change or practise before our next meeting?
-
What challenged me or made me think differently?
-
How am I showing up for myself and my goals right now?
Deeper Reflection Prompts (optional)
-
What’s something I learned about the way I handle uncertainty or feedback?
-
What patterns do I notice about how I think or talk about my goals?
-
What does confidence look like for me in this season of life?
-
When was the last time I felt proud of my effort, not just the outcome?
For Mentors
-
What progress or shift did I notice in my mentee today?
-
How did my approach influence the conversation?
-
What questions or ideas helped move things forward?
-
Is there something my mentee said that made me reflect on my own practice or leadership?
